Jesus spoke a parable that Peter did not understand. Therefore, he asked the Lord for an explanation,

Then Peter answered and said to Him, “Explain this parable to us.” So Jesus said, “Are you also still without understanding?” (Matthew 15.15–16).

Jesus then went on to explain the parable. Jesus did not put the interpretation into Peter’s head automatically, but the Lord explained and Peter had to listen and had to understand what he heard.

If you do not understand something, ask the Lord for help, but do not expect the solution just to pop into your head. He wants you to do what you are able to do for yourself.
