Our generation considers the birth of Jesus Christ so significant that we number our years from His entrance into the world. The Lord Himself also thought something was so significant that He said to Israel,
Now the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, “This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you” (Exodus 12.1–2).
It was during that month that the Lord poured out the final plague on Israel’s great enemy, and that the Lord through Moses led Israel out of Egyptian slavery. Is that a significant event in the national life of Israel? Is July 4th a significant date in the history of America? Likewise, Israel’s deliverance was very significant.
Interestingly, Israel’s deliverance from Egypt typifies the Christian’s deliverance from the bondage of sin. Do you remember the day on which you were released from your sins and saved?
