Joseph charged the family of Israel to take his bones out of Egypt to bury them in the Land of Canaan. Thus, Israel preserved those bones for four hundred years, and did as he said,
And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him, for he had placed the children of Israel under solemn oath, saying, “God will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones from here with you” (Exodus 13.19).
The brothers of Joseph did not want him in the Land of Canaan, so they sold him into Egypt. The brothers wanted to live in the Land of Canaan, but the Lord forced them down to Egypt. Joseph died in Egypt, but Israel buried him in the Land of Canaan, and Israel buried the brothers in Egypt. Is it not interesting to see who the Lord often reverses things?
Also, some Christians say they do not care what is done with their bodies after they die, but the Bible always speaks highly of the bodies of the saints, and the Lord wants us to treat our bodies well, both while we live and that our family give proper burial of our bodies when we are gone.
