Israel of old, like the church of new, made a spiritual connection with the God of heaven, because He is spirit, and not flesh, but it is also true that He created our flesh, and so He showed the Jews how to be healthy, and what to do with dreaded diseases like leprosy,

“If a man or woman has a sore on the head or the beard, then the priest shall examine the sore…” (Leviticus 13.29–37).

God wants His people to be healthy, but He does not want them to emphasize the flesh over the spirit.
