Going through the terrible wilderness

Moses reminded Israel of their journeys in the wilderness, and he reminded them of the time that they arrived at a certain mountain,

“So we departed from Horeb, and went through all that great and terrible wilderness which you saw on the way to the mountains of the Amorites, as the Lord our God had commanded us. Then we came to Kadesh Barnea. And I said to you, ‘You have come to the mountains of the Amorites, which the Lord our God is giving us. Look, the Lord your God has set the land before you; go up and possess it, as the Lord God of your fathers has spoken to you; do not fear or be discouraged’” (Deuteronomy  1.19–21).

I like the way Moses said it: God is giving you this land; He has placed you right before it; go and get it; you have nothing to fear! Yet, they made it difficult, asking that spies be sent, and even then they did not believe they could take the land.

So many Christians live the same way. God places blessings right in front of us, but the world holds more interest to us, and then we wonder why the church is not more exciting to us.

Focus your eyes on the things that God gives you, and live in those blessings, and watch the contentment and peace fill your life.
