Conspiring to commit the greatest betrayal of all time

In a moment, we shall read of the conspiracy to commit the greatest betrayal of all time, although those involved had no idea of the enormity of their dastardly deed, including a close friend of the one betrayed,

Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went to the chief priests to betray Him to them. And when they heard it, they were glad, and promised to give him money. So he sought how he might conveniently betray Him (Mark 14.10–11).

Puny men, who thought they were important, planned to betray the Son of God, something they did not believe Him to be, although Judas knew, or he should have know the true identity of Jesus of Nazareth.

Yet, the Lord Jesus Himself knew that this conspiracy took place, and He had it preserved in Scripture for all time, not just that we might see the evil deed, but that we might know why He allowed this to go on.
