Amazingly, Jesus remained silent during His trials with the Jews, although they hammered Him with questions. They lied about Him with false witnesses. Yet, He said nothing in return. Then, He finally did speak. What happened that moved Him to say something?
But He kept silent and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked Him, saying to Him, “Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?” Jesus said, “I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven” (Mark 14.61–62).
The thing that got Jesus to speak, was a question about His identity. He could not deny Himself, nor could He even leave a question unanswered that pertained to His identity, for to do so, He would have been denying the Father, because Jesus is the Son of God.
