Pilate asked the multitude what they wanted him to do with Jesus, knowing that the Jewish leaders had been envious of Jesus, moving them to turn Him over to the Romans for crucifixion. When Pilate asked the multitude what they wanted done, Mark says,
But the chief priests stirred up the crowd, so that he should rather release Barabbas to them (Mark 15.11).
To stir up the crowd to do good works, is something that we need more leaders doing, but to stir up a crowd to kill an innocent man, in this case, the Son of God, we do not need any leaders doing. The leaders and the crowd conspired to put to death the one righteous man who has lived on this Earth. Be careful what you hear leaders stirring you up to do, and be careful what you stir up others to do.
