When Jesus died, crying out with a loud voice, something wonderful happened inside the city of Jerusalem at the temple, as Mark reported,

Then the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom (Mark 15.38).

The veil separated the Holy Place from the Holy of Holies, and the Holy of Holies symbolized heaven itself. Therefore, when Jesus died, the veil tore, not from the bottom up, as if a man had done it, but from the top down, because God did it. This showed that Jesus opened the way into the true Holy of Holies by His death.
