Great was John the Baptist

The Lord sent Gabriel to the future father of John the Baptist, revealing the work that John would do, including,

“And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God. He will also go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, ‘to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children,’ and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord” (Luke 1.16–17).

Magnificent was the work of John. He would be responsible for turning many Israelites to the Lord God, and John would turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and he would turn the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, and in doing so, he would be preparing the people for the Lord Himself to make an entrance into the land.
