Preaching brings support and persecution

Preaching is a phenomenal experience. For one thing, when you speak the word of God, there are people who would die for you, but others want you to die. The same message brings love and hatred to the speaker, as you can see in the example of John the Baptist,

And with many other exhortations he preached to the people. But Herod the tetrarch, being rebuked by him concerning Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done, also added this, above all, that he shut John up in prison (Luke 3.18–20).

John exhorted the people, and they loved him for it. John also spoke to kings, such as Herod, and he persecuted John for it.

How do you react to the preaching of the word of God?
