The Lord promised that although the tribe of Levi would not have its own region to inherit, they would have cities and the land around the cities, spread throughout Israel, and the Lord kept that promise,

All the cities of the Levites within the possession of the children of Israel were forty-eight cities with their common-lands. Every one of these cities had its common-land surrounding it; thus were all these cities (Joshua 21.34–42).

Therefore, the Levites were able to teach all of Israel, and be available for whatever reason the Lord set them up in those various cities, just how He has now placed Christians, who are the priests of God, all over the world, not giving us a region we can call our own, but we are scattered all over the Earth to teach, and to do whatever good works the Lord wants us to do.
