Demons know what they have coming. Therefore, when a legion of demons inhabited a man, and Jesus appeared, they asked Him not to send them to the place of torment, known as the abyss, but they wanted to go somewhere else,

And they begged Him that He would not command them to go out into the abyss. Now a herd of many swine was feeding there on the mountain. So they begged Him that He would permit them to enter them. And He permitted them. Then the demons went out of the man and entered the swine, and the herd ran violently down the steep place into the lake and drowned (Luke 8.31–33).

They did not want go to into the abyss, another name for hell, but they wanted to go into the swine, which the Law of Moses declared as unclean. They quickly destroyed the swine.

These demons know something of which we should take note. The abyss is not a good place to go. Therefore, believe on the Lord Jesus with all your heart that you might avoid that awful place.
