Jesus warned His apostles of persecution for preaching the truth about Him, but knowing what persecution can do to one’s thinking, He gave them this instruction,

“Now when they bring you to the synagogues and magistrates and authorities, do not worry about how or what you should answer, or what you should say. For the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say” (Luke 12.11–12).

Likewise, we need to know what the Holy Spirit would have us say in any given situation. Therefore, arm yourself with the Sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, spending time everyday in the word, and praying without ceasing that you might say the right thing.
