Watch out for opportunists

04.28.2014 Old Testament: 2Sa 19.15-16

To read the Bible in a year, read Second Samuel 19–20 on April 28, In the year of our Lord 2014

As David fled Jerusalem from his son Absalom and his army, Shimei cursed David, but when Absalom died and his army collapsed, look what happened,

Then the king returned and came to the Jordan. And Judah came to Gilgal, to go to meet the king, to escort the king across the Jordan. And Shimei the son of Gera, a Benjamite, who was from Bahurim, hurried and came down with the men of Judah to meet King David (2 Samuel 19.15–16).

Later, some of David’s servants wanted to kill Shimei for his betrayal, but David stopped it. However, he let his son Solomon deal with Shimei later. Shimei found the winning side and stayed with it, until they lost and then went to the other side. Watch out for people of that nature, because when they side with you, they might side with your enemy later when they see you losing.
