If you claim to know the truth, and that anyone who does not yet know that truth is lost, hear what Jesus told Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews,

Jesus answered and said to him, “Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not know these things? Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness. If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things?” (John 3.10–12).

Nicodemus believed that what he knew, everyone should know, and if they did not, they did not stand in favor before God. Yet, when he talked with Jesus, Nicodemus did not understand some things, because he had restricted his mind to understanding things in an earthly way.

Learn from this that we should humble ourselves and develop a mind that thinks on heavenly things.
