The story of David reveals that danger, especially death, tracked him often, but he alluded it because the Lord worked in David’s life for his good. However, the Bible also shows us the lives of wicked kings of Judah and the sad ends they met, because of their evil,
Now the rest of the acts of Joash, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? And his servants arose and formed a conspiracy, and killed Joash in the house of the Millo, which goes down to Silla. For Jozachar the son of Shimeath and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, his servants, struck him. So he died, and they buried him with his fathers in the City of David. Then Amaziah his son reigned in his place (2 Kings 12.19–21).
Is that not sad to read of a descendant of David? Joash had so much going for him as a son of David and as a king over God’s people, and he did what was right in his early years, but then turned away later in life. Please remain faithful to the Lord all the days that you walk this Earth.
