If you have ever been the subject of a lie, you eagerly looked for an opportunity to speak the truth about yourself. Do you see anything wrong with speaking on behalf of yourself?
Yet, people do see a problem with God or Jesus speaking on their own behalf. I have heard many critics of Christianity declare that the Bible’s witness of itself, or Christ’s witness of Himself, was not valid. Why? If I am to consider whether Jesus came from heaven, I want to hear what He has to say.
Even during His ministry, His critics considered His self-testimony as invalid, or false,
The Pharisees therefore said to Him, “You bear witness of Yourself; Your witness is not true” (John 8.13).
That does not make sense. Shall we not hear from a man before we decide whether he is true or false?
