David did as God commanded (1Ch 14.16), and for that, David not only won a major battle against the Philistines, but look at what else the Bible says it brought David,

Then the fame of David went out into all lands, and the Lord brought the fear of him upon all nations (1 Chronicles 14.17).

Other nations feared David, because they saw that the God of heaven was with him, and if you fought David, you had to fight his God, and that was a recipe for disaster.
