The Father, the Son, and you

06.08.2014 New Testament: John 17.9–10

To read the Bible in a year, read John 17 on June 8, In the year of our Lord 2014

When I read the words of the prayer of Jesus found in John 17, I know that I have read words of grace. Think carefully on the special things Jesus said about the apostles, and then by extension what He said about us who follow Him today. Consider this part,

“I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours. And all Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine, and I am glorified in them” (John 17.9–10).

How does that make you feel to know that even as Jesus prayed for the apostles, so He prayed for you? He prayed for you because the Father gave you to Jesus, and whatever Jesus has, such as you, the Father also has, and even as Jesus was glorified in the apostles, so He is glorified in you.

Now go out and live your life full of the glory of Jesus Christ and of the Father, and know that heaven goes with you in all that you do.
