06.19.2014 New Testament: Acts 4.17–18
To read the Bible in a year, read Acts 4.1–22 on June 19, In the year of our Lord 2014

The Jewish authorities thought that they had gotten rid of their “problem,” when they crucified Jesus, but then His followers, especially the preachers, started teaching in the name of Jesus. The authorities gathered together, made a plan, and told it to the preachers,
“But so that it spreads no further among the people, let us severely threaten them, that from now on they speak to no man in this name.” So they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus (Acts 4.17–18).
These leaders had killed Jesus. They could have just as easily killed these preachers. Fear could have filled their hearts. What would you do, if you had been one of those preachers? Are you prepared for things like that to happen today?
