Does God’s plan for your life frighten you?

Job

07.02.2014 Old Testament: Job 23.14–17

To read the Bible in a year, read Job 23–25 on July 2, In the year of our Lord 2014

How is your life going? Does it frighten you to see what potentially lies ahead because of what you currently experience? Job saw how his life had turned out, going from riches to rags, from good health to poor health, from a family to no family, and he could not see any good prospects for the future. Therefore, he said of God,

“For He performs what is appointed for me,
And many such things are with Him.
Therefore I am terrified at His presence;
When I consider this, I am afraid of Him.
For God made my heart weak,
And the Almighty terrifies me;
Because I was not cut off from the presence of darkness,
And He did not hide deep darkness from my face.”
(Job 23.14–17)

However, the Holy Spirit shows at the end of The Book of Job that the Lord turned everything around for Job, and we know that currently he is experiencing a blessed state. Therefore, when life despairs, and you see no way for things to get better, remember Job.
