Some people believe that elders and preachers should not work closely together, and that preachers cannot advise elders and that elders should not seek advice from preachers. Yet, I have discovered that such people do not hesitate to tell preachers and elders what to do!
In the New Testament, we find elders and preachers working closely together, and Acts 15 shows a great example of such. Consider this passage,
Now the apostles and elders came together to consider this matter (Acts 15.6).
As you continue to read the narration, you will discover non-apostolic preachers had also assembled to discuss a matter that had come up in the church. No one appears to have been belligerent, but they discussed the issue calmly and came to a conclusion.
Look to yourself and see how you participate in discussions, and whether you have the spirit displayed in Acts 15. Also, rejoice when you see preachers and elders working together, for there are plenty of times when they do not.
