The government continued to help

Acts Wide

07.23.2014 New Testament: Acts 23.31–33

To read the Bible in a year, read Acts 23.12–35 on July 23, In the year of our Lord 2014

By Don Ruhl

As we observed yesterday, the Roman government helped Paul, although they thought that he had probably done something wrong. However, when the Romans found out that some Jews had conspired to kill Paul, they helped him, providing an overwhelming force to protect him, and to escort him,

Then the soldiers, as they were commanded, took Paul and brought him by night to Antipatris. The next day they left the horsemen to go on with him, and returned to the barracks. When they came to Caesarea and had delivered the letter to the governor, they also presented Paul to him (Acts 23.31–33).

Therefore, Paul reached his destination safely, although the Romans still held him as a prisoner. They were determined to find out what the problem was, but for the moment, they protected him.

Let us praise God when the government helps us, and let us pray for them when they hurt us.
