07.23.2014 Old Testament: Psa 38.11–12
To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 38–40 on July 23, In the year of our Lord 2014
By Don Ruhl
What do you do when the people you love stay away from you, and others come after you to attack you? Do what David did. He told God about it, which is why we can read his laments in the Bible,
My loved ones and my friends stand aloof from my plague,
And my relatives stand afar off.
Those also who seek my life lay snares for me;
Those who seek my hurt speak of destruction,
And plan deception all the day long.
(Psalm 38.11–12)
Poor David. Family and friends did not want him, and enemies attacked him. However, he poured out his heart to the One whom he knew would care, and sure enough the Lord preserved David’s words in the Bible for us to see that the Lord knows what happens in our lives.
