07.24.2014 New Testament: Acts 24.12–14
To read the Bible in a year, read Acts 24 on July 24, In the year of our Lord 2014
By Don Ruhl
Some people live for stirring up trouble, and others live for speaking the truth, and a consequence of that is that trouble arises. Let us not be guilty of the former, but let us pursue the latter, even as Paul spoke of himself to the Roman authorities,
“And they neither found me in the temple disputing with anyone nor inciting the crowd, either in the synagogues or in the city. Nor can they prove the things of which they now accuse me. But this I confess to you, that according to the Way which they call a sect, so I worship the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the Law and in the Prophets” (Acts 24.12–14).
When you read Luke’s account of Paul, you will discover that he was not a troublemaker, but in pure love he spoke the truth.
How do you conduct yourself? Do you stir up trouble for the sake of stirring up trouble? What is your goal? Try to see yourself as others see you. Try to see yourself as the Lord sees you.
