07.24.2014 Old Testament: Psa 42.1–3

To read the Bible in a year, read assignment In the year of our Lord 2014

By Don Ruhl

The sons of Korah wrote a masterful psalm when they put together the forty-second psalm. Remember the Holy Spirit used the psalmist to express what we feel, such as this,

As the deer pants for the water brooks,
So pants my soul for You, O God.
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
When shall I come and appear before God?
My tears have been my food day and night,
While they continually say to me,
“Where is your God?”
(Psalm 42.1–3)

Many of us have been right where those three verses picture us. If you have never had the experience of those words, someday you shall, and you will see your soul’s deep need for your Creator.
