07.25.2014 Old Testament: Psa 44.17–19
To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 44–46 on July 25, In the year of our Lord 2014
By Don Ruhl
The sons of Korah in Psalm 44, listed ways in which they suffered, but then at verse 17, they proclaimed their loyalty to the Lord,
All this has come upon us;
But we have not forgotten You,
Nor have we dealt falsely with Your covenant.
Our heart has not turned back,
Nor have our steps departed from Your way;
But You have severely broken us in the place of jackals,
And covered us with the shadow of death.
(Psalm 44.17–19)
They declared their unflinching loyalty to the Lord, but they also told Him how they believed He had dealt with them harshly. They did not sound arrogant. They did not rebuke Him. They needed Him, and it seemed to them that He was not right there when they needed Him, but continue to read the psalm and soak in their spirit, and you will see how they treated the Lord.
