07.30.2014 New Testament: Acts 28.21–22
To read the Bible in a year, read Acts 28.16–31 on July 30, In the year of our Lord 2014
By Don Ruhl
When Paul arrived in Rome, he called the local Jews to him, explaining why he was in Rome as a prisoner, to which they responded,
Then they said to him, “We neither received letters from Judea concerning you, nor have any of the brethren who came reported or spoken any evil of you. But we desire to hear from you what you think; for concerning this sect, we know that it is spoken against everywhere” (Acts 28.21–22).
False reports about Paul had not traveled ahead of him, but those Jews had heard of the Way, which they called a sect. Paul then set an appointment with them when others could be present, and he could present the truth about what they called a sect, and what we call Christianity, or as the Bible calls it, the church.
