God, I thirst for You!

07.31.2014 Old Testament: Psa 63.1–2

To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 62–64 on July 31, In the year of our Lord 2014

By Don Ruhl

You have read in the Scriptures that David was a man after God’s own heart. What made David have such a heart? In Psalm 63, you will see David thirsting for God, showing how much David wanted God, which reflected God’s desire for David, for with both God and David they meant more to one another than anything else,

O God, You are my God;
Early will I seek You;
My soul thirsts for You;
My flesh longs for You
In a dry and thirsty land
Where there is no water.
So I have looked for You in the sanctuary,
To see Your power and Your glory.
(Psalm 63.1–2)

When it is hot and dry, how much do you thirst for water? When you have been deprived of time for prayer, reading the Scriptures, or attending worship, how much does your soul thirst for time with God?

Make every effort to worship the God of heaven with the saints every Lord’s Day.
