08.01.2014 Old Testament: Psa 66.1–4
To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 65–67 on August 1, In the year of our Lord 2014
By Don Ruhl
What is the point of emotionless worship of God? Has He brought joy into your life? Are His works awesome? Has He silenced His enemies and the enemies of the church through the centuries? Can you think of reasons to praise Him? Listen to the opening verses of Psalm 66,
Make a joyful shout to God, all the earth!
Sing out the honor of His name;
Make His praise glorious.
Say to God,
“How awesome are Your works!
Through the greatness of Your power
Your enemies shall submit themselves to You.
All the earth shall worship You
And sing praises to You;
They shall sing praises to Your name.”
Selah
(Psalm 66.1–4)
Do what this psalm said to do. Pour out your soul in adoration of God, who has:
- Brought joy into your life
- Done awesome works
- Silenced His enemies
- Done things worthy of your praise
