David pictured God with Israel in the wilderness,

O God, when You went out before Your people,
When You marched through the wilderness,
Selah
The earth shook;
The heavens also dropped rain at the presence of God;
Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel.
(Psalm 68.7-8). 

Remember God on Sinai, and the awesome sights and sounds that emanated from the mountain. We serve the same God, and someday He shall literally shake the earth into oblivion.
