08.13.2014 Old Testament: Psa 97.2–6
To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 96–98 on August 13, In the year of our Lord 2014
By Don Ruhl
When you see the heavens put on a display, think of God as displaying His righteousness, for what He does in the heavens, He eventually does among men, as it is written,
Clouds and darkness surround Him;
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of His throne.
A fire goes before Him,
And burns up His enemies round about.
His lightnings light the world;
The earth sees and trembles.
The mountains melt like wax at the presence of the Lord,
At the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.
The heavens declare His righteousness,
And all the peoples see His glory.
(Psalm 97.2–6)
When you see lightning, think of how the Bible associates lightning with God and His throne in both the Old and New Testaments. Think of how we react to lightning. Then think of what it will be like to see Him who created the lightning!
