08.17.2014 Old Testament: Psa 107.13–16
To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 107–108 on August 17, In the year of our Lord 2014
By Don Ruhl
Have you cried out to the Lord when you were discouraged, depressed, or distressed? After He helped you, did you remember to thank Him?
Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
And He saved them out of their distresses.
He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death,
And broke their chains in pieces.
Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness,
And for His wonderful works to the children of men!
For He has broken the gates of bronze,
And cut the bars of iron in two.
(Psalm 107.13–16)
It is interesting how the psalmist noted that people cried out to the Lord, and He delivered them out of their distresses, and then the psalmist wished that people would thank the Lord, as though they had not.
What has the Lord done for you? Spend some time thinking of how He has blessed you in the flesh and in the spirit, and it might surprise you what He has done. Did you thank Him as quickly as you cried out to Him?
