08.30.2014 Old Testament: Psa 143.3–4
To read the Bible in a year, read Psalms 142–144 on August 30, In the year of our Lord 2014
By Don Ruhl
An enemy has attacked you. It might be a person. It might be a disease. It might be man’s great enemy, death as it approaches. What do you do when an enemy overwhelms you and distresses you?
For the enemy has persecuted my soul;
He has crushed my life to the ground;
He has made me dwell in darkness,
Like those who have long been dead.
Therefore my spirit is overwhelmed within me;
My heart within me is distressed.
(Psalm 143.3–4)
The psalmist knows just how you feel. Therefore, do what he did. He wrote down the matter and presented it to the One who rules over creation, because the psalmist knew that in the Creator, our Lord, he would find help.
