09.06.2014 Old Testament: Pro 9.12
To read the Bible in a year, read Proverbs 9–10 on September 6, In the year of our Lord 2014
By Don Ruhl
You have gained wisdom, and you see how what you know and what you have experienced could help others, if they would just care to know what you know, but we often have to keep our wisdom to ourselves and know that it has changed at least us and maybe only us.
If we scoff at wisdom and advice, we do not hurt the one giving it, but we ourselves suffer. Therefore, Solomon wrote,
If you are wise, you are wise for yourself,
And if you scoff, you will bear it alone.
(Proverbs 9.12)
With everything that is within you, get wisdom, but know that you may only benefit yourself, for most people want to learn the hard way and go through the hard knocks of life themselves.
If you scoff at the wisdom of a wise man or woman, you will not degrade their wisdom at all, but you will suffer the consequences for not following that which they wish to give you.
