09.11.2014 Old Testament: Pro 19.6–7
To read the Bible in a year, read Proverbs 19–20 on September 11, In the year of our Lord 2014
By Don Ruhl
Do you seek to be blessed or to bless? Are you a taker or a giver? Do you seek friendship with one who has more than you or less than you? Now, having considered those questions, read this passage,
Many entreat the favor of the nobility,
And every man is a friend to one who gives gifts.
All the brothers of the poor hate him;
How much more do his friends go far from him!
He may pursue them with words, yet they abandon him.
(Proverbs 19.6–7)
Anyone can seek the favor of the wealthy, but can you seek the poor? He has nothing that he can give to you, except friendship. Do not covet what the rich have, but seek to give to others.
