09.15.2014 New Testament: 2Co 7.5–7
To read the Bible in a year, read Second Corinthians 7 on September 15, In the year of our Lord 2014
By Don Ruhl
Sometimes Paul was separated from his preaching team, and although he knew it served a purpose at times, it still distressed him. Also, when he went to another town without a member of his team, it troubled him, because he did not know how that person fared. Listen to him speak to the Corinthian Church,
For indeed, when we came to Macedonia, our bodies had no rest, but we were troubled on every side. Outside were conflicts, inside were fears. Nevertheless God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us by the coming of Titus, and not only by his coming, but also by the consolation with which he was comforted in you, when he told us of your earnest desire, your mourning, your zeal for me, so that I rejoiced even more (2 Corinthians 7.5–7).
In this case, God comforted the downcast, Paul, by bringing Titus to the apostle, and by the report that Titus brought. Therefore, learn to value the people in the church, because God uses them to comfort us.
