We say, “farewell,” but we should remember that is a compound word, from putting together “fare” and “well.” Therefore, we are telling people that we hope they fare well as we part from one another. Paul used this expression, but he also showed how to fare well,
Finally, brethren, farewell. Become complete. Be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you (2 Corinthians 13.11).
How can you fare well so that the God of love and peace will be with you?
Become complete
Be of good comfort
Be of one mind
Live in peace
God wants us to pursue those four things, and if we do, He will be with us. Do you seek those things?
