Spiritual darkness exists and it wants you. It will do whatever it takes to get you to join its side. However, have nothing to do with it,

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light (Ephesians 5.11–13). 

Rather than joining the forces of darkness, we should expose them, because the things they do in secret are so bad, it is even shameful to describe what they do. In time, the light of the Lord shall expose them, and you do not want to be in the darkness when that happens.
