From lifelessness to life

Isaiah Bible Background

10.06.2014 Old Testament: Isa 35.5–7

To read the Bible in a year, read Isaiah 34–36 on October 6, In the year of our Lord 2014

By Don Ruhl

The love of the Lord shines through relentlessly. Although man rejects and rebels against the Lord constantly, He still seeks those who want to be faithful to Him, and to them, He promises magnificent things,

Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened,
And the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
Then the lame shall leap like a deer,
And the tongue of the dumb sing.
For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness,
And streams in the desert.
The parched ground shall become a pool,
And the thirsty land springs of water;
In the habitation of jackals, where each lay,
There shall be grass with reeds and rushes.
(Isaiah 35.5–7)

The Lord makes the blind see, the deaf hear, the lame leap, the mute sing, the wilderness burst forth with water, the desert produce streams, and the Lord provides food for all. This is the glory of Zion, which is the church, and we enjoy these things in the Spirit, and we enjoy them in heaven itself.
