Christians do not direct their lives, but someone else does. We can present our plans to Him, and He will often grant the direction we wish to go, but the Director has the final say in everything, and we should so speak, even as Paul did,

Now may our God and Father Himself, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way to you (1 Thessalonians 3.11).
