10.22.2014 Old Testament: Jer 7.15
To read the Bible in a year, read Jeremiah 7–8 on October 22, In the year of our Lord 2014
By Don Ruhl
Judah and Jerusalem saw what happened to Ephraim and Israel when the Lord sent the cruel and brutal Assyrians against the Northern Kingdom, but Judah failed to learn. Therefore, the Lord promised,
“And I will cast you out of My sight, as I have cast out all your brethren—the whole posterity of Ephraim” (Jeremiah 7.15).
The Jews could see what happened, especially that the Lord had sent prophets to the Northern Kingdom, and that the people failed to listen to the prophets. The Lord then sent a disaster upon Israel. Why did Judah think they would escape? Why don’t nations learn from other nations that the Lord punishes unrighteousness?
