10.25.2014 Old Testament: Jer 14.19–22
To read the Bible in a year, read Jeremiah 14–16 on October 25, In the year of our Lord 2014

In the passage below, quoted from the Book of Jeremiah, you will read a prayer, either by Jeremiah or the people, asking the Lord why they were suffering. The prophet did not demand an answer, but he stated his belief in the Lord and who He truly is, especially in contrast to idols,
“Have You utterly rejected Judah?
Has Your soul loathed Zion?
Why have You stricken us so that there is no healing for us?
We looked for peace, but there was no good;
And for the time of healing, and there was trouble.
We acknowledge, O Lord, our wickedness
And the iniquity of our fathers,
For we have sinned against You.
Do not abhor us, for Your name’s sake;
Do not disgrace the throne of Your glory.
Remember, do not break Your covenant with us.
Are there any among the idols of the nations that can cause rain?
Or can the heavens give showers?
Are You not He, O Lord our God?
Therefore we will wait for You,
Since You have made all these.”
(Jeremiah 14.19–22)
In many places, the church is shrinking and wrinkling, getting smaller and those left are older. Ask the Lord why such is the case. Also, tell Him what you know about Him, and how it should be the case that the church should grow.
