10.28.2014 Old Testament: Jer 23.13–14
To read the Bible in a year, read Jeremiah 23–24 on October 28, In the year of our Lord 2014
By Don Ruhl
A scourge of Israel, and of the church, have been false prophets, who have led astray countless numbers of people, but truly those people were not grounded in the Scriptures. The Lord said of false prophets, during the days of Jeremiah,
“And I have seen folly in the prophets of Samaria:
They prophesied by Baal
And caused My people Israel to err.
Also I have seen a horrible thing in the prophets of Jerusalem:
They commit adultery and walk in lies;
They also strengthen the hands of evildoers,
So that no one turns back from his wickedness.
All of them are like Sodom to Me,
And her inhabitants like Gomorrah.”
(Jeremiah 23.13–14)
Falsehood in Samaria caused the people to walk in folly and to err. Falsehood in Jerusalem led to adultery, lying, strengthening evildoers, and making the people as abhorrent in the sight of the Lord as the terrible cities of Sodom and Gomorrah.
Therefore, do not let yourself be led astray by false prophets, but bury your nose in the Scriptures.
