11.10.2014 New Testament: Heb 7.12
To read the Bible in a year, read Hebrews 7 on November 10, In the year of our Lord 2014
By Don Ruhl
We no longer have priests from the tribe of Levi, nor do we have high priests from the sons of Aaron. Jesus is our High Priest, but He does not fit the qualifications of priests according to the Law of Moses. Therefore, the writer of the Book of Hebrews wrote,
For the priesthood being changed, of necessity there is also a change of the law (Hebrews 7.12).
The Lord never meant for the Law of Moses to exist forever, but He knew that He would raise His Son to serve as High Priest, and that such meant the Law would have to change. Therefore, the Lord put into place the Law of Moses to teach the world about a sacrificial system, and when that job had been completed, the Lord removed that Law and made Jesus our High Priest. Praise the Lord.
