The Lord does not forget

Amos Bible Background

12.16.2014 Old Testament: Amos 8.7–8

To read the Bible in a year, read Amos 7–9 on December 16, In the year of our Lord 2014

By Don Ruhl

God’s people wanted the Sabbath to end quickly that they might get back to the business of making money, and for that attitude He said,

The Lord has sworn by the pride of Jacob:
“Surely I will never forget any of their works.
Shall the land not tremble for this,
And everyone mourn who dwells in it?
All of it shall swell like the River,
Heave and subside
Like the River of Egypt.”
(Amos 8.7–8)

They thought the Lord would forget their evil, but He told them that He would never forget. If we repent, He will not remember our sin, but if we continue in sin, He will never forget. Let us all, therefore, repent now!
