Revelation Bible Background

12.31.2014 New Testament: Rev 22.10–11

To read the Bible in a year, read Revelation 22 on December 31, In the year of our Lord 2014

In Revelation 10, a voice from heaven told John not to write the things that the seven thunders had uttered, but at the end of the Book of Revelation, an angel told John not to seal up the rest of the Revelation,

And he said to me, “Do not seal the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is at hand. He who is unjust, let him be unjust still; he who is filthy, let him be filthy still; he who is righteous, let him be righteous still; he who is holy, let him be holy still” (Revelation 22.10–11).

The Lord Jesus did not want anything hidden that the angel had shown John. Moreover, the angel revealed that the unjust and the filthy would remain unjust and filthy. If the contents of the Scriptures as they are, do not persuade them to change, then nothing else will. More writing will not persuade to turn. They will continue in their sin.

The righteous and the holy already have the knowledge they need to remain righteous and holy, and so they will remain as such.
