01.10.2015 Old Testament: Gen 25.22–23
To read the Bible in a year, read Genesis 25–26 on January 10, In the year of our Lord 2015
By Don Ruhl
Rebekah, the wife of Isaac, became pregnant, but something was not right. She sought the Lord that He might reveal to her what was happening within her,
But the children struggled together within her; and she said, “If all is well, why am I like this?” So she went to inquire of the Lord. And the Lord said to her:
“Two nations are in your womb,
Two peoples shall be separated from your body;
One people shall be stronger than the other,
And the older shall serve the younger.”
(Genesis 25.22–23)
She learned that she had twins, but they struggled with one another, and so it would be with their descendants, they would struggle with one another. Her boys, Esau and Jacob, would become Edom and Israel, and the two nations fought, just as the Lord had said.
Yet, in Christ Jesus, all people can become one and stop their fighting. Are you in Christ? Are you ready to stop fighting?
