Christianity is not powder-puff football. It is not even tackle football. It is war. Moreover, do soldiers go into battle unprepared to pay the cost? If not, they will pay it and die. Listen to Jesus teach, showing what following Him requires of us,

“He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it” (Matthew 10.37–39).

Soldiers going into battle have to be willing to leave everything and everyone behind. Christians must do the same in following Christ. Following Him comes before family and even our own lives.
